Hire a Professional to do Your Spring Cleaning

The concept of spring cleaning goes all the way back to Biblical times. While the meaning was perhaps a little bit different centuries ago, the concept remains the same – using spring as a fresh start. While some people get a high off of doing their spring cleaning (hello, Martha Stewart), that is certainly not the case for everyone! If you want it done right, and to get that “refreshed” feeling when it’s over, it is important that the cleaning is thorough!

professional house cleaning service lbiThis is where a professional cleaning company – like Stretch Cleaning – comes in! Martha’s list of spring cleaning musts is extensive enough to have you asleep or completely stressed out before you even reach #5. Plus, if you tried to tackle all this on your own, you might miss the entire spring season on Long Beach Island!

So, as you read this list, imagine having it all done for you while you’re off getting a pedicure – or catching up on that work project you’ve been putting off for weeks because the house is a mess. We’ll handle the house; you handle whatever else needs to get checked off your checklist!

So without further ado, here is Martha Stewart’s spring cleaning checklist:

  • Wipe Walls & Ceilings. Now … how big is your house? That’s a lot of work, right? And Martha wants to be sure you are using nice sponges and a solvent-free degreaser.
  • Reseal Grout. We are just going to stop right here and say this is better left to the pros. Instead of resealing them just for the sake of resealing, just let Stretch Cleaning clean the grout for you!
  • Shampoo Rugs. As we’ve talked about in other blogs, trying to clean carpets yourself won’t have the same result as letting a pro come in with professional cleaning solutions, tools, and machines. Plus, if you have expensive oriental rugs or other floor coverings made of special materials, they could be ruined by incorrect cleaning techniques.
  • Dust Books & Shelves. Pull everything off and give it all a thorough cleaning.
  • Polish Doors & Window Hardware. We’ll just go ahead and quote Martha here: “Liquid polishes and polish-impregnated cloths work well for medium-tarnished surfaces; pastes and creams are for heavier work. If tarnish doesn’t come off, try a stronger product.”
  • Wax Wooden Furniture: Here, Martha suggests wiping every surface with a soft, damp cloth with mild dish soap. Then, you should apply a paste wax using a cotton rag folded into a square pad. Once it’s dry, buff it clean. And work small areas at a time.

The other bullet points we left out include ensuring fire safety, dusting the entire home thoroughly, and waxing non-wood floors.

Stretch Cleaning is here to get this all done for you, and to help keep your home (or business!) spic and span year-round. We are fully insured and bonded and have more than 20 years of experiencing with cleaning of all kinds.
